Here is the 7 minute thriller Service:

I asked each of the filmmakers in this month’s series to answer this question: What inspired you about this particular story to make it a movie? Here is Jerry’s response:

There were two moments in this film that, when I started to write the project, provoked me to ask a bunch of questions. Who are these people? How did they get here? What are they going to do next? The first was when we see the man in the chair as our main character enters the room and begins to dance. My hope was that there would be so much information contained in that one wide image that the audience would immediately get sucked in and start to form answers to those questions with their own imaginations. Who is the person that lives in this house? What relationship does she have with him? And what is this weird feeling I have about what’s going to happen next?
The second moment is when she enters the bedroom and sees her daughter there with a stranger. Again, my hope was that the audience would try to form answers to those questions I’d left them. Who is this person? What danger is this child in? What is our hero going to do about it?
For me, having a dialogue with an audience like that, making them want answers to these kinds of questions, leaving just enough mystery in the scene to allow them to play inside it and create their own answers, that’s why I make films. These are the kinds of stories I gravitate to and that’s why I love what I do.
