Pitch sale: “Wardogs”

MGM continues to impress on the acquisition front laying down a cool $1M for the action-comedy pitch “Wardogs” from writers Ken Kaufman and David Agosto:

The producers are keeping quiet on the plot, but [Andrew] Lazar said that “it’s an action ensemble comedy in the vein of ‘Ocean’s Eleven,’ where the casting becomes an event.”

Added [Michael] Ewing, “It is a bunch of these terrific actors getting together and having a good time‚ it’s that kind of thing.”

Oh sure, that whole “terrific actors getting together having a good time” kind of thing. Don’t forget that sub-genre when you’re brainstorming your next spec project.

Seriously, it’s great to see MGM as active as they have been in the marketplace of late. For a writer, always better to have more buyers. And in the case of Kaufman and Agosto, always better to have them bidding against each other — that’s how you get a seven-figure payday.
