Legendary screenwriter, director, twice president of the WGA, as well as president of the AMPAS, Frank Pierson has died.
Most noted for movies including Cat Ballou (1965), Cool Hand Luke (1967), and Dog Day Afternoon (1971) for which Pierson won an Academy Award, the LAT points out in this article several other notable films including three for HBO: Citizen Cohn (1992), Truman (1995), and Conspiracy (2001).
