Spec Script Deal: "Canopy"

Netflix preemptively acquires horror thriller spec script "Canopy" written by Brandon Feldman. Via Deadline:

Comped to films like Apex, Predator and The Shallows, Canopy follows a botanist searching for a rare medical cure in the uncharted Amazon canopy who must survive a terrifying, undiscovered apex predator after she is offered as a sacrifice by a local village.

The script generated interested by receiving an 8 rating on the Black List website. It sold in an auction for a reported mid-six figures.

Feldman is repped by Verve and Independent Artists Media.

By my count, this is the 23rd spec script deal in 2026.

There were 23 spec script deals year-to-date in 2025.
