Twentieth Century Fox acquires science fiction spec script “Crater” written by John J. Griffin. From Variety:

“Crater” is described as a coming-of-age story in the vein of “Stand By Me,” set on a moon colony. After the death of his father, a boy growing up on a lunar mining colony takes a trip to explore a mysterious crater, along with his four best friends, prior to being permanently relocated to another planet.

Script made the 2015 Black List. This is the first script deal for Griffin. He is repped by WME and Grandview.

By my count, this is the 53rd spec script deal in 2017.

There were 64 spec script deals year-to-date in 2016.
