Spec Script Deal: Untitled Melissa Stack Project

20th Century Fox acquires untitled comedy written by Melissa Stack. From Deadline:

It’s an R-rated comedy in which an older woman goes on vacation with her much-younger boyfriend’s family.

It’s reported to be a mid-six figure deal with Stack attached to make her feature directing debut.

Stack is repped by Paradigm and Kaplan/Perrone.

By my count, this is the 23rd spec script deal of 2017.

There were 16 spec script deals year-to-date in 2016.

This represents a 30% increase in deals this year compared to last.
