Spec Script Sale: “3022”

BCDF Pictures acquires psychological sci-fi thriller spec script “3022” written by Ryan Binaco:

The crew members on a space shuttle 600,000 miles from Earth must question their individual fates and fight for their lives after their home — Earth itself — is destroyed.

From TheWrap:

BCDF found the script after Binaco, a New Jersey native now living in Sweden, uploaded it to the Black List site for review by industry experts. The script climbed to the top of the site’s rankings, where manager Russell Hollander found it and signed Binaco.

Three things:

* Yet another success story from the Black List script hosting site.

* Yet another internationally based writer to sell a spec script and yet another one living in Sweden, lending even more reason to ask: What is going on with Scandinavia?

* BCDF also optioned a second script by Binaco.

By my count, this is the 47th spec script sale in 2013.

There were 60 spec script sales year-to-date in 2012.
