Spec script sale: “Bad Teacher”

Fresh off the heels of noting yesterday that little is happening on the sales front, Columbia Pictures scoops up the comedy spec “Bad Teacher”, written by “The Office” co-exec producers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky:

Story follows a foul-mouthed, gold-digging seventh-grade teacher who’s dumped by her sugar-daddy boyfriend and turns her attention toward a colleague. That pits her against a rival who happens to be the school’s model teacher.

Lots of successful school-based comedies in Hwood movie history including Election (1999), The School of Rock (2003), and Clueless (1995), so “Bad Teacher” would seem to slot right into the ‘similar but different’ philosophy by which the studios operate.

Any other school-based movies worth noting?
