Universal wins bidding war to acquire action-comedy spec script “Don’t Mess With Texas” written by John Quaintance and David Feeney. From Deadline:

Pic is a female driven comedy about a cop and a prisoner on the run in Texas, with crooked cops in hot pursuit.

As predicted a few years back, the return of the action comedy is in full swing.

Quaintance is repped by CAA and Art/Work. Feeney is repped by UTA.

By my count, this is the 46th spec script sale of 2013.

There were 57 spec script sales year-to-date in 2012.
