Spec Script Sale: “Inquest”

Wayfare Entertainment with preemptive purchase of thriller spec script “Inquest” written by Josh Simon. From Deadline:

Based on true events, the political thriller is about a London investigator who’s hired to discover whether her [Princess Diana] death was a tragic accident or something more. When he begins to uncover a conspiracy, the gumshoe’s own safety is compromised.

When WME and Apostle’s George Heller shopped the script selectively, they included copies of confession letters culled from Princess Diana’s private diary that she was in fear of her life.

Simon, who used the pseudonym “Sam Cohen” when the script went out, is repped by WME and Apostle.

By my count, this is the 28th spec script sale in 2013.

There were 37 spec script sales year-to-date in 2012.
