Spec script sale: “Repeat After Me”

No reports from the trades, but DoneDealPro.com is reporting that Single Cell Films (REM’s lead singer Michael Stipe’s film company) has optioned “Repeate After Me” from Peter Paige & Brad Bredeweg. I did find this tidbit at Eye On WEHO (West Hollywood):

The current national economic crises has many points of impact though few realize it’s impact on the film industry. Paige points out that within the studio system there is some stability once a project is greenlit or pre-production has begun, although, he adds “independent films are much harder to secure financing in general,” as he explains that fewer sources are willing to fund projects which aren’t guaranteed blockbusters. As a result, Paige is excited but tight lipped about his next project Repeat After Me, currently optioned at Universal. Industry insiders know the wisdow of holding their hand close until all the I’s are dotted and T’s are crossed. Though is pleased to announce that he and writing partner Brad Bredeweg are in negotiations with producers of Being John Malkovich with plans to begin production on Repeat After Me by 2010.

Paige is probably best known playing Emmett on the TV series “Queer as Folk.” Paige and Bredeweg are repped by CAA and managed by Alex Goldstone & Adam Kossack.
