Spec Script Sale: “The Unseen”
Twentieth Century Fox acquires drama thriller spec script “The Unseen” written by John Travis. From THR:
The script is based on the short story Mr. Pettinger’s Daemon, which appeared in John Connolly’s collection of short fiction stories Nocturnes. The plot centers on a hospital cleric who is tasked with treating a fellow clergyman in a remote parish who has been displaying severe signs of mental illness. When he arrives, he discovers that the root of his colleague’s erratic behavior is a biblical force of evil that is trying to surface from deep below the church.
Travis is repped by APA and Industry Entertainment.
By my count, this is the 8th spec script sale in 2014.
There were 6 spec script sales year-to-date in 2013.
UPDATE: This deal was actually reported in November 2013, but this is the first mention in the trades. As to why THR reported it yesterday and as an “exclusive,” anybody’s guess.
What this means is there have been 7 spec script sales in 2014.
