Spec script sale: “Wedding Banned” for big bucks
Biggest dollar sale for a spec script in some time: $850K against $1.6M for writing team Jack Amiel and Michael Begler’s Wedding Banned. Here’s the premise:
“A long-divorced couple kidnap their daughter on her wedding day to keep her from making the mistake of her life. The divorced parents rekindle their relationship as they elude cops and the angry groom.”
That’s semi-painful for me as Burg & Myers pitched a comedy where two sets of parents, neighbors who don’t like each other, take off in pursuit of one pair’s son and the other pair’s daughter who have eloped to Mexico to try to stop the wedding.
