Staci, I am reminded of a story my first writing partner told me. He was working as an assistant to a studio exec (this is before we sold K-9). One of his responsibilities was to provide script coverage for the exec.

One day, the exec was frantically trying to prepare for a meeting, script coverage in hand.

Exec: (waving coverage) What’s the story about?
Assistant: (points to coverage) It’s right there in the coverage.
Exec: Well, cover the coverage for me!

Whereas some coverage doesn’t, studio coverage generally includes synopses and story summaries because execs will often read those in lieu of the actual script due to time pressure.
