The Black List Launches New York City Event Series

APRIL 29 — First Draft Screenwriters Happy Hour // 6:00PM — 10:00PM
The events kick off with a Black List and Writers Guild of America, East co-hosted happy hour at Houston Hall (222 W Houston St). Inspired by the success of their popular screenwriter meetups at Melrose Umbrella Company in LA. The event is a cash bar and open to everyone 21+. APRIL 30 — The Business of Screenwriting Panel // Doors 7:00PM, Panel at 8:00PM
In partnership with the Film Society of Lincoln Center and NYU’s School of Professional Studies, Franklin Leonard, Founder and CEO of the Black List, will join NYC-based screenwriters on-stage at the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center’s Amphitheater (144 W 65th St) to discuss the intricacies of breaking into the entertainment business as a writer. MAY 2 — Black List Live! Staged Reading // Doors 7:30PM, Show at 8:00PM
On Saturday night at the New School (65 5th Ave), Black List Live! will present a live, staged reading of 2014 Black List script BIG TIME ADOLESCENCE, written and directed by Jason Orley. This will be their first New York live read. As with their LA readings, a cast of actors you know and love will be announced in the week leading up to the event. MAY 2–3 — NYC Screenwriters Mini-Lab // Invitation Only
The Black List will invite four promising, non-professional local writers to a two-day intensive writers workshop hosted by NYU’s School of Professional Studies. Mentors include Beau Willimon (HOUSE OF CARDS), Jessica Bendinger (BRING IT ON, STICK IT), and Leslye Headland (BACHELORETTE, SLEEPING WITH OTHER PEOPLE). Great opportunities for NYC-based writers. I will be one of the mentors for the screenwriting mini-lab. Based on the two previous Black List labs in Las Vegas, this should be an incredible experience for four lucky writers.
