Now a quick word about the word “definitive”. It’s a bit of hyperbole. As I always note, tracking spec script sales is not exact science, so you can be sure there are some deals which happened not included in these lists.

That said, this is the most comprehensive data available online for the 25 year period it covers.

What can you do with this information? Apart from tracking trends year to year, you can go through loglines of each script listed here and use them to inspire new ideas. There are 2,209 spec scripts in these archives, each with loglines. A great resource for generating story concepts.
