There is something to writing like you just don’t give a shit about what others think of your story. I remember the second year I was doing standup comedy — this after 7 years of playing music professionally for a living — where I knew this was not was I was going to be doing with my life. So I adopted that attitude on stage. I just went for it because nothing to lose, right? And I hit a whole other level of humor and audience connection.
