Time for more Daily Dialogue themes!
It’s that time again. We have one more theme left in our virtual cupboard which we’ll run next week, so it’s time to replenish the bin. While we’re at it, perhaps it’s a good time to reflect on the Daily Dialogue series.
Since I launched this site on May 16, 2008, I have blogged every one of the 2,080 days through today. How many Daily Dialogue posts have there been?
2,080.
That’s right: Every. Single. Day.
I always envisioned each day would begin with an example of movie dialogue, a little something to get the creative juices flowing.
For the first few years, I ran the whole thing myself, but then readers started suggesting movie scenes and possible themes, so eventually it became this communal activity… which I think is great.
Over the last several months, I have noticed a waning participation. For a long time when I posted the upcoming theme for the week, typically on a Saturday, I would get inundated with suggestions. Now more frequently, I’ll get perhaps a couple per week.
This is not meant to be a guilt trip. If folks don’t want to contribute suggestions, that’s okay by me as I find it fun to dig into my memory banks and dredge movies from my past.
On the other hand, I like to do everything I can to encourage readers to get involved with blog activities, so my druthers would be to see if we could the level of activity back up to where it was.
So a question: Is there something we can do to spice up the Daily Dialogue series? Can you think anything we can do to make it more valuable and/or entertaining to readers?
“Yes, DO speak! DO speak!”
If you have any ideas, please post to comments or email me.
Meanwhile we do have that theme cupboard to fill, so if you have some good suggestions for a weekly theme, please post in comments. Remember:
* The theme should be something we can relate to the craft of screenwriting.
* The theme should be broad enough in scope that we can fill 7 days of posts with memorable movie moments.
* The theme should be entertaining.
* The theme should be only a few words or even one for ease of inclusion in my tweets.
So two things: Suggestions for Daily Dialogue themes and any ideas about how to generate more juice for the series.
As always, thanks for your involvement and support!
