Update: Lethal Weapon 5
We hit on this rumor here. Now per Tracking Board.com an update:
We can now confirm that Shane Black wrote a “scriptment” for LETHAL WEAPON 5, not a screenplay… This is what he gave to producer Joel Silver. The project would go in the Winter with Shane Black, most likely, at the helm…
However, the project lives and dies with Mel Gibson. It all hinges on his green light. He is currently filming EDGE OF DARKNESS in Boston, co-starring Robert Deniro (and directed by Martin Campbell with a script by William Monahan).
This is more like it. The idea that Black wrote a spec script on pre-existing material — the original rumor — seemed pretty loopy. But this at least gives us the chance to add another bit of Hwood lingo to our collective vocabs: “scripment.” I think I prefer “snidekicks”.
