A friend was up for a gig as production designer for the movie. He gave me a copy of the script asking me to read it. “I think this is great, but it’s like… whoa,” he said. I read it that night. Called him up. “Whoa, is right,” I said.

Can you remember the first time you saw Reservoir Dogs? It’s hard to look back through two decades of movies [it came out in 1992] and realize just how stunning the movie was, a visceral blast written and directed by a self-assured filmmaker with a unique vision.

In other words, a great movie.
