What’s in store on GITS this weekend

On Saturday, we have a video interview with screenwriter Ted Griffin (Ocean’s Eleven, Matchstick Men) and a great speech former head of Miramax Mark Gill gave this week at the L.A. Film Festival, his analysis of the jumbled independent film world. His speech caused quite a buzz, the PDF version of it emailed all over. In the speech, Gill offers some words of hope re independent movies — and that hope can be summed up with two words: “great scripts.”

On Sunday, a real treat: I found a video interview with Francois Truffaut where he discusses how he develops and writes stories. It’s a rare glimpse into a brilliant mind, one of the founders of the French “New Wave” movement.

I’ll also try to finish up a few posts I’ve started, one which looks at Wikipedia’s take on “screenwriting.”

By the way, any video interviews you find with screenwriters discussing the craft, or even written interviews, please forward a link to me. As long as we’ve gone down this route, might as well try to make this blog a one-stop shop for those type of resources.
