“With ‘The Dark Knight,’ film noir still lives”

Funny how moving to Chapel Hill, North Carolina has resulted in meeting a slew of entertainment business folks. For instance, just a few weeks back, I met Lewis Beale, a freelance journalist who covers movies and Hollywood trends. Turns out he teaches journalism at UNC-Wilmington and is the brother-in-law of Jeff Shear, another transplanted local involved in the writing trade and one of this blog’s readers. 

Lewis forwarded me a piece he wrote for Newsday — “With ‘The Dark Knight,’ film noir still lives” — and it’s a great read, giving some good background on the film noir genre and full of quotes from a number of pros, including Chris Nolan, who directed Dark Knight. Pass along to any of your Batman obsessed friends — we’ll be looking forward to more features on Hollywood from Mr. Beale.
