Writing Question: What’s your best excuse NOT to write?

It’s a question I’ve been asking screenwriters during the many interviews I’ve been conducting this year: What’s your best excuse NOT to write? The responses have been interesting to say the least. Here is a sampling:

Reid Carolin (Magic Mike): “My single best excuse not to write… ESPN.com.”

Eric Heisserer (Hours): “Going to a movie.”

David Guggenheim (Safe House): “I don’t even need an excuse, I just don’t do it.”

How about you? What’s your best excuse NOT to write?

And the implied second question: How do you resist your impulse NOT to write?

@GoIntoTheStory For me, no matter the excuse I make, it’s always the same: I’m afraid it won’t be good enough.

Yeah, that’s pretty much the subtext of any excuse not to write, isn’t it?
