“What does this character want
and more importantly why do they want it?
Those are what I look at
as I’m writing dialogue.”

UPDATE: I love this visual!
Yes! A writing scamper. It’s such a frolicsome and delightful thing. Works counter to the writing slogs we normally expect. Sometimes it’s helpful to play while we write, very much in the spirit of the Zero Draft.
For this nifty image, today’s Trumbo Award goes to Simone Linke!
When you have the impulse to do a writing scamper… or receive an invitation to join one… DO IT! Sometimes writing is just plain old hard work. But there are occasions where we can have a bit of fun with it. Scampering can do that.
