“Great writing gets you meetings, great concept gets you a sale, great characters get you jobs. All three get you a career.”

Today’s Inspirational Video
This is pretty cool: NASA’s Curiosity Mars Rover at Namib Dune. You can literally manipulate the view to see 360 degrees. It’s got me thinking about a movie idea: An astronaut who has landed on the planet gets stranded there and has to survive for several years before…
Wait, what? That’s already been done?

Now Zeronauts, Scamperers, Word Warriors, and Outlaws…
UPDATE: Over at the Zero Draft Thirty Facebook Group, Justin Major posted this link which features a video of a hamster climbing some stairs. It is a perfect metaphor for writing a story. I can’t find out how to embed it here, so trust me, you will want to click on the link and check out the furry dude’s progress up… up… and up!
I went to YouTube and searched “hamsters climbing stairs”. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, but there are dozens of clips. Here’s one of them:
Hamsters have become the mascots of the Zero Draft Thirty community and I have to take some responsibility for this. When I ran the original ZD30 Challenge in November 2015, I decided we should do occasional writing sprints, only in the zero draft spirit of cutting loose and having fun, I called them writing scampers. At some point, I thought of Scamper the Hamster and… well… here we are nearly two years later and hamsters have become our spirit animals, plus we host monthly 24 hour Scamper-A-Thons.
An object lesson in following creativity wherever it leads!
Which brings me back to the business at hand, naming today’s Trumbo Award recipient: Justin Major!
