Zero Draft Thirty: Download Your Very Own ZDT Calendar!
Thanks to two awesome GITS readers, you can download a Zero Draft Thirty Calendar, print it out, and mark off your progress day by day, week by week. Click here to download one created by Shelly Artello. And here for one created by Chris Neumann.
It’s amazing how something as seemingly benign as a calendar can serve as a motivational tool. You get the tactile experience of holding a pen or pencil, then with your fingers pressed against paper, filling in that’s day number.
As the month moves along, you get the visual satisfaction of seeing the progress you have made.
Of course, a calendar can work in a more devious manner, too. As you find yourself clicking away on Facebook, doing you very best to avoid writing, you suddenly become aware of the fact…
The calendar is staring at you. Even glaring.
Then a low mournful voice.
Please… don’t let me end up empty today. You marked in yesterday. What about me?!?! Don’t I deserve some of your creative affection? Even one page… one lousy, stinkin’ page. Can’t you manage to write even that? I’m tellin’ you one is not the loneliest number. Zero is! Unmarked! Emptiness and desolation! I’m beggin’ you, don’t disgrace me! These other dates of the month, they’re like total bastards. They will laugh at me, taunt me, haunt me. All I’m askin’ is for a single, solitary page…
[Breaks down into gut-wrenching, guilt-building sobs]
Okay, thanks. You can give me one page. [beat] How ‘bout two then? Three’s even better…
So there’s also that.
With a calendar, you’ve got your positive reinforcement… and your negative reinforcement. I call them: The Dual Pistons of Productivity! Push… Pull. Carrot… Stick. Uplift… Downshift. All that from a little ol’ page printed with numbers and boxes and what not.
And best of all, the Zero Draft Thirty Calendar is free!
So go here and here to download your very own ZDT Calendar.
Mark your progress! Feel the guilt! Write your pages!
