Giving up on writing is not an option. Come and listen to Dan Petrie., Jr. (Beverly Hills Cop, The Big Easy) and “Mad Men” creator Matthew Weiner describe their starts in the industry and share motivating and inspiring stories. A shot of Canadian Club should help break the ice.
FRIDAY, 10/23
Script-to-Screen: VALKYRIE
Case study on the writing and production process of getting stories to the screen. Come and talk with Academy Award-winning writer Chris McQuarrie about the researching and writing process of this history-based story and his second partnership with director Bryan Singer since The Usual Suspects. As Chris himself says, “this is one a room-full of struggling writers will love to hear. I couldn’t have made this one up if I tried.”

This is just the preliminary list which is sure to grow as the festival draws closer. The AFF is a great event because screenwriting is one of the festival’s main themes every year, always several notable screenwriters on panels and in attendance.
Plus the movies. A few years back, Kevin Wild came back raving about a movie called Juno. The next year, Kevin was pimping Slumdog Millionaire. So the AFF obviously gets some quality movies before they’re released.
