Beer and Film Tour

You’ve got movies. You’ve got beer. Put them together and voila… you’ve got this:

NEW BELGIUM BREWING SEEKS ACTORS, ACTIVISTS AND CRAFTY SHORT FILMMAKERS FOR TRAVELING BEER & FILM TOUR
Fort Collins, Colorado — New Belgium Brewing, maker of Fat Tire Amber Ale, is seeking short digital, film and video submissions for the first season of its traveling cLips of Faith Beer & Film Tour. Chosen entries will screen in fourteen cities throughout the summer and fall of 2010. The top three winning filmmakers will travel to New Belgium Brewing in Fort Collins, CO for a private screening and beer dinner extraordinaire. For submission guidelines visit www.clipsoffaith.com.
“The cLips of Faith Beer & Film tour is a celebration of the innate creativity of both brewing and film,” said event director, Meredith Giske. “We’re looking for eclectic and creative short film submissions to complement the beers we are bringing from our Lips of Faith portfolio. These are some of the most creative beers we make, so it will be a one-two combo like you’ve never seen.”
Each stop along the fourteen-city tour will feature an outdoor screening of the collected films, a full tasting of New Belgium’s Lips of Faith (http://www.newbelgium.com/beer) beers and food from local vendors. All proceeds will benefit local bike non-profits. The series will run between mid-June and mid-October.
“At this point, we’re looking for you and your friends to create something original and fun for all of us to watch,” said Giske. “We’re looking for stories that touch on beer, whimsy or sustainability in the categories of comedy, drama, adventure, documentary or animation. The slate is completely blank and the possibilities are endless.”
To learn more about New Belgium’s cLips of Faith series or to submit content, go to www.clipsoffaith.com. Films will be judged by the creative team at New Belgium Brewing plus one celebrity judge (if you’re a celebrity who wants to judge, please contact us!). All submission materials are nonreturnable. There is no fee to enter. Good beers, good films, good luck!

About New Belgium Brewing Company
New Belgium Brewing Company, makers of Fat Tire Amber Ale and a host of Belgian-inspired beers, began operations in a tiny Fort Collins basement in 1991. Today, the third largest craft brewer in the U.S., New Belgium produces eight year-round beers; Fat Tire Amber Ale, Ranger IPA, Sunshine Wheat, Blue Paddle Pilsner, 1554 Black Ale, Abbey, Mothership Wit and Trippel, as well as a host of seasonal releases. A few months back, we ran a series on GITS called Movies You Made. Must have had 25–30 posts. Here’s a chance for all those — and other — filmmakers to do something that can actual advance your career. The rules:

  • Submit now through May 20, 2010
  • Film length 10 seconds to 10 minutes.
  • Your film can be on any subject in any genre but for bonus credit, try to include one or more of
     New Belgium’s three main follies:
  • Craft Beer
  • Sustainability (think environmental statements)
  • Whimsy (think spoofs, giddy candid moments or anything worth watching)
  • You need to be at least 21 years of age and reside in the United States.
  • Filmmakers must secure rights to all theatrical performances, music and locations for each submission.
  • Keep it clean. Overconsumption of beer, gratuitous violence, sex or nudity will not be eligible for screening.
  • By submitting your film on our group page, you are granting us permission to show it at our Clips of Faith Beer and Film Tour.
OK. Now for the fun part. The bestest of the best submissions will be compiled into a feature-length film that will visit 14 tremendously hip cities on our Clips of Faith Beer & Film Tour. Will one be yours?

How about if we sweeten the brew? We’ll reward the top 3 filmmakers with a trip to New Belgium Brewing in Fort Collins, Colorado for a private screening and beer dinner extraordinaire.

Either way — you have a darn good chance of getting your film out there on the big screen.

I learned about New Belgium Brewing doing research on ‘green’ stories for a TV series I produced. They’re a very cool outfit and were featured on the Sundance Channel’s excellent series “Big Ideas for a Small Planet.” Here’s a clip:

The short filmmaker series sounds like a winning project. And like I said… movies… beer… what’s not to like?
