“Cast set for ‘Straw Dogs’ remake”

I’m posting this to cite yet another remake, right?

Screen Gems has set James Woods, Dominic Purcell and Willa Holland in “Straw Dogs,” the Rod Lurie-directed reimagining of the 1971 Sam Peckinpah film.

Wrong! I’m posting this because the Protagonist is a “Hollywood screenwriter”:

Lurie wrote the script, which stars James Marsden as a Hollywood screenwriter who accompanies his wife (Kate Bosworth) as she returns to her hometown in Mississippi. Her ex-boyfriend (Alexander Skarsgard), a former high school football hero, sees her return as an opportunity to reclaim glory.

In the original version, the Protagonist, played by Dustin Hoffman, is an astrophysicist:

Upon moving to Britain to get away from American violence, astrophysicist David Sumner and his wife Amy are bullied and taken advantage of by the locals hired to do construction. When David finally takes a stand it escalates quickly into a bloody battle as the locals assault his house.

Why the switch to screenwriter? 
21st century version of Modern Day Wimp? 
Transformation from wordsmith to gunsmith?

Well, at least I now know what movie to use for the Daily Dialogue tomorrow.
