Consumer Electronics Show circa 1982

This is mindboggling:

More highlights from my “NightLife Show” which ran on local cable TV in FL from 1980–1986. This condensed episode features a look back at the Consumer Electronics Show from Chicago in June of 1982. This show features a host of analog home video products that have come and gone from everyday life! You’ll see Betamaxes, VHS-C, huge satellite dishes, a $10,000 Sony television set, Panasonic’s 1st CCD for cameras and a random-access tuner! Big stuff in ‘82! Ray Glasser narrates this visit. Also included are Randy Watkins and Art Vuolo. This is a fast-paced visit to the long-ago world of home video! Air Date: September 17, 1982

And here’s the tape:

Amazing to compare to this video of the 2009 CES:

What current technology will go the way of the 8-track tape?
