The Daily Dialogue theme for next week: Artificial Intelligence, suggested by Angry Cyborg. Today’s recommendation by Gisela Wherl.

Trivia: After Disney’s purchase of Lucasfilm, John Knoll heard about some of the early concepts for new Star Wars movies and was not impressed with any of them. He began developing his idea for this film and started talking it up to his fellow ILM employees, refining the story into a thirty-minute pitch. People at ILM liked it so much that he was encouraged to bring it to Kathleen Kennedy, the new president of Lucasfilm. She loved the pitch and the movie was put into production.

Dialogue On Dialogue: Commentary by Gisela: “All Robots of one kind look the same. But K-2SO reacts like a human, he is embarrassed. When Jyn shot, she couldn’t have known if the robot was K-2O or not. But — as talking to a human — she lies either not to admit her failure or not to hurt K-2SO’s feelings. Nice punchline, I like all Star Wars’ Androids.”
