Daily Dialogue — June 8, 2010

“For a job with you he’ll come. Cesar! There’s not a safe that can resist Cesar and not a woman that Cesar can resist.”

 — Mario Ferrate (Robert Manuel), Du rififi chez les homes / Rififi (1955), adaptation by Jules Dassin, collaboration by René Wheeler and Auguste Le Breton, dialogue by Auguste Le Breton, based on a novel by Auguste Le Breton

The Daily Dialogue theme this week is film noir movies.

Trivia: Dassin [the director], aiming for a dark and gloomy film with deep greys as the lightest it would get, refused to film on beautiful sunny days. This supposedly caused much frustration amongst the producers, no doubt because of the prolonged shoot which they saw as unnecessary.
