Daily Dialogue theme for next week
Heading down the home stretch of this week’s Daily Dialogue theme: Characters talking about a weapon as suggested by Peter Dwight.
Next week’s theme comes from a suggestion by JD Walters:
How about poignant father-son exchanges? Examples:
The Namesake
Gogol Ganguli: [after being told the origin of his name] Baba, is that what you think of when you think of me? Do I remind you of that night?
Ashoke Ganguli: Not at all. You remind me of everything that followed. Everyday since then has been a gift…

Return of the Jedi
Darth Vader: Luke… help me take this mask off.
Luke: But you’ll die.
Darth Vader: Nothing… can stop that now. Just for once… let me… look on you with my *own* eyes.
[Luke takes off Darth Vader’s mask one piece at a time. Underneath, Luke sees the face of a pale, scarred, bald-headed, old man — his father, Anakin. Anakin sadly looks at Luke]
Anakin: Now… go, my son. Leave me.
Luke: No. You’re coming with me. I’ll not leave you here, I’ve got to save you.
Anakin: You already… have, Luke. You were right. You were right about me. Tell your sister… you were right.
[Anakin slumps down in death]

The Lion King
Mufasa’s ghost: [apears among the stars] Simba, you have forgotten me.
Adult Simba: No. How could I?
Mufasa’s ghost: You have forgotten who you are and so have forgotten me. Look inside yourself, Simba. You are more than what you have become. You must take your place in the Circle of Life.
Adult Simba: How can I go back? I’m not who I used to be.
Mufasa’s ghost: Remember who you are. You are my son, and the one true king. Remember..

Why don’t we open it up to father-son, father-daughter, mother-son, mother-daughter? Any memorable exchanges you can remember, please post in comments.
Remember to check out IMDB.com for actual quotes. If you have the time to search YouTube for an accompanying video, groovy.
And if you have suggestions for other DD themes, please post them in comments as well.
