Daily Dialogue theme for next week: Non-verbal ‘dialogue’

Thanks to churnage for this week’s suggestion: First date. And great work with your examples, representing a wide variety of genres and story scenarios.

Next week, something different: Non-verbal ‘dialogue’ suggested by Liz Swan.

Longtime GITS readers will remember we did something along these lines last year [Teddy P suggested Autumn Sonata as I recall], but I definitely think it’s a theme worth exploring again. Movies are primarily a visual medium. The more we embrace that fact, the more naturally cinematic our scripts become. Thinking of communication between characters as more than simply spoken dialogue is a great way to do that.

The usual drill:

* Copy/paste dialogue from IMDB Quotes or some other transcript source.

* Copy/paste the URL of an accompanying video from MovieClips or YouTube.

This will wrap up our slate of themes, so next week I will be requesting new DDT’s.
