Daily Dialogue theme for the week: Snappy answers to dumb questions

Here it is, the beginning of the New Year. Gives us a chance to come up with a really special DDT to kick off the year Twenty Dozen [ht to @ChuckWendig for that moniker].

My suggestion: Adults talking to babies. But I’m sure you can come up with something better. The more we can use the theme to spotlight lessons in writing dialogue, the better. And remember, it needs to be a theme that can support at least seven posts.

What shall it be for the first DDT of 52 this year?

See you in Comments with your suggestions!

UPDATE: This week’s suggestion comes from Richard who gives a few examples in Comments:

GHOSTBUSTERS: Ray: Hey, where do these stairs go?/ Peter: They go up.

KISS KISS BANG BANG: Harry: Still gay?/ Gay Perry: Me? No. I’m knee-deep in pussy. I just like the name so much, I can’t get rid of it.

ANALYZE THIS: Paul Vitti: I couldn’t get it up last night./ Ben Sobel: You mean sexually? / Paul Vitti: No, I mean for the big game against Michigan State. Of course sexually!

CLERKS: Customer: Cute cat. What’s its name?/ Randal Graves: Annoying customer./ Customer: Fuckin’ dickhead!

You know the drill:

* Copy/paste dialogue from IMDB Quotes or transcript.

* Copy/paste URL of related MovieClips or YouTube clip.
