Per THR, Bridesmaids is now or soon will be:
* The biggest grossing R-rated female comedy of all time, passing Sex in the City.
* The biggest grossing Judd Apatow movie (he produced Bridesmaids) of all time, passing even Knocked Up.
* The biggest grossing R-rated Universal Pictures movie of all time.
And nary a single damn superhero in the movie! Just a great high concept, a strong script, a stellar cast, some funny set pieces, and characters we care about.
Bridesmaids has done $169M B.O. worldwide as I write this post. On a $32.5M production budget.
Compare to Green Lantern with $122M B.O. worldwide on a $200M budget.
If you were a studio executive, which would you rather have been involved with?
