“DirecTV Confirms Move Into 3-D Realm”
Per Media Week:
DirecTV on Wednesday confirmed its plans to forge ahead into the brave new world of 3-D TV, a space that is becoming increasingly crowded despite the fact that it doesn’t currently exist.
While we were busy shopping and partying in the run-up to and execution of the HoliDaze, various cable and broadcast nets have been making announcements about their rush into 3-D TV. A partial list: CBS, NBC Universal, Fox Sports, MTV, Turner Broadcasting System, HDNet, Discovery, and ESPN. Per the latter:
ESPN 3D will debut in time for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, which kicks off June 11 with a match between host nation South Africa and fellow Group A squad Mexico.
Here people have barely had a chance to wrap their heads around Blue Ray technology and just getting used to their new HD flat-screen TV sets — and by the end-of-the-year, we’ll be assaulted with the ‘must-have’ 3-D TV option.
Too much, too soon? Does 3-D TV excite you or make you want to vomit?
