I posted a Q&A about Film News Briefs here, a free online information service covering business trends in Hollywood including film, TV, and the Web. They’ve started a new monthly feature for email subscribers (it’s free) in which they spotlight 4 up-and-coming filmmakers. Here are this month’s filmmakers:

Filmmaker: Nik Facker (“Lovely, Still”)

This is a first time feature by a 26 year-old filmmaker from Omaha, NE. And yes, that is Martin Landau. Nik’s talent is worth watching.

Note: The movie also features Ellen Burstyn and Elizabeth Banks.

Filmmaker: Christopher D’Elia (“Trunk”)

This short has won a good deal of awards and it’s apparent why. The story has some spectacular twists and turns. We’re on record as not being fans of longer short films but, at 20 minutes, it is perfectly paced.
