From Script to Scene: Your Suggestions!
Response to the new GITS weekly feature From Script to Scene [every Wednesday] has been strong. The basic idea: Take a scene from a screenplay and compare it to the final produced version. You can see the three installments that we’ve done thus far:
Alien: Alien kills Dallas in the air tunnels
Jerry Maguire: Dorothy joins Jerry in leaving the office
No Country for Old Men: Chigurh makes an old man flip a coin to decide his fate
How about your suggestions? The only thing that’s required is:
* A script that is available at myPDFscripts.com so readers can have access to it.
* A scene that is available on MovieClips.com. I prefer this site because many international readers can’t access YouTube video clips.
This exercise is a terrific way to see how what’s written gets translated onto the screen. It also gives us the opportunity to use our analytical muscles to ask some interesting questions: Why did they make the changes they did? Why did the director choose the set of camera shots they did? Which is better: The scripted or movie version?
