“Has Anyone Come Close to Pixar’s 11-Peat?”

Like the pinch-hitter who only comes to the plate once a week, Pixar’s box-office batting average has gotten little respect. How difficult could it be to have a string of hits when you’ve released fewer than one movie a year, for 15 years?

But the weekend release of “Toy Story 3” — extending to 11 an uninterrupted string of number-one openings — has made the Emeryville, California, studio’s success hard to overstate.

“No one that we know of has ever opened 11 pictures in a row in first place,” noted Disney theatrical distribution chief Chuck Viane, discussing the second-sequel’s $110.4 million opening.

At this point, perhaps we should just forgo any more superlatives and simply make “pixar” into a word. As in:

“Even if you gave me a million dollars, a house in the Palisades, and a date with Scarlett Johansson, I couldn’t feel more pixarly than I do right now.”

Or:

“Talented? The guy is totally the most pixarest dude like ever!”

Maybe:

[one lover sighs to another] “I pixar you.”
