How many spec scripts do you think will sell in 2012?
I’m not ready to lock down the final number for spec script sales in 2011, but as of right now it stands at 109. Let’s compare the number of sales since 2008:
2008: 87
2009: 68
2010: 55
2011: 109
At the end of last year, I had predicted a rebound in the spec script market, but nothing like this.
I figured this year, why not have some fun and let everyone put on their prognostication glasses to see what they see for spec script sales in 2012. I’ll keep a list and we’ll come back next year around this time to see who came closest. Let’s even have a prize:
I will read any script of the winner’s choice and do a thirty-minute teleconference to discuss it with them.
So head to comments and make your prediction. Will the spec market contract? Continue to expand? What is your reasoning? At the end of the week, I’ll post my number. And remember in January, I will be doing a series of articles analyzing the 2011 spec script market per genre, studio, agents & managers, first-timers, and big $$ sales.
See you in comments!
