Learn how to market your script and build your career

How is it possible to succeed as a screenwriter working on projects that are personally meaningful?

Should I write a spec script that I’m passionate about or one to appeal to the commercial marketplace?

What steps do I need to take to secure underlying rights if I’m interested in writing a biopic?

These are just some of the topics to be covered in the newest Screenwriting Master Class course: “Network Hollywood.” Query letters, genre strategies, contests, working with managers and agents, choosing the right stories to write, virtually everything you need to know about taking the next step in your journey as a screenwriter.

Taught by Tom Benedek, this 2-week online class [July 25-August 6] features live webinars with 7 industry professionals: Peter Benedek [founding partner of United Talent Agency], Dan Halsted [manager-producer, Manage-Ment], Josh Heald [screenwriter, Hot Tub Time Machine], Sean Hood [screenwriter, Conan the Barbarian 3-D]], Adam Kolbrenner [manager, Madhouse Entertainment], Robert Lawrence [producer, Die Hard with a Vengeance], and Stanley Weiser [screenwriter, Wall Street]. For more information, go here.

Today’s featured guest is Stanley Weiser:

Stanley Weiser is an American screenwriter whose screen credits include the movies Wall Street, W., and Project X, the Civil Rights TV movies “Murder in Mississippi” (nominated for four Emmys) and “Freedom Song” (winner Writers Guild of America Award), and the HBO movie Fatherland (nominated for three Golden Globe awards). An NYU film school graduate, Weiser began his career as a production assistant for Brian De Palma on Phantom of the Paradise and as an assistant cameraman on the Martin Scorsese documentary Street Scenes. He is currently writing a feature biography of the legendary music producer, John Hammond, the man who discovered Billie Holiday, Aretha Franklin, Bob Dylan, and Bruce Springsteen, and who was instrumental in bringing about integration of music in America.

This is a terrific opportunity to shrink the gap between you and Hollywood.
