So when posed the question of story versus plot, Scorcese winds his way into a discussion about The Wrong Man (1956), directed by Alfred Hitchcock from a screenplay by Maxwell Anderson and Angus MacPhail. Regarding the film, Scorcese talks about mood, tone, and feeling, and most vividly the characters. It’s as if he finds plot less interesting than all the rest of what comprises a story.
