Movie Trailer: “Jose e Pilar”
Received a nice email from Diogo Figuera:
Portugal has just announced his contender for Best Foreign Picture, to be to the Academy’s consideration until the official announcement of the nominees in January 24th. The interesting thing about it is that this pick is a documentary. And it is a very beautiful documentary. And it could be particularly interesting for GITS readers, who are themselves writers, since this is a piece on the last years of Nobel Prize for Literature laureate José Saramago. Besides being a tender love story and containing the most enlightened clearheaded thoughts on mankind, society and the universe, it is also a very pleasant trip through Saramago’s creative mind and processes. It follows the writing and promotion of that which would be his last book, “The Elephant’s Journey”.
It is co-produced by Pedro Almodóvar and Fernando Meirelles.
I am happy to promote international films of note. This one looks particularly relevant for the GITS community because it is about an accomplished novelist and his creative process writing what would be his final story.
