Movie trailer: “The Men Who Stare at Goats”

Here’s the trailer for The Men Who Stare at Goats, the upcoming comedy-drama starring George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Kevin Spacey, and Jeff Bridges.

Here’s the premise per IMDB:

A reporter, trying to lose himself in the romance of war after his marriage fails, gets more than he bargains for when he meets a special forces agent who reveals the existence of a secret, psychic military unit whose goal is to end war as we know it. The founder of the unit has gone missing and the trail leads to another psychic soldier who has distorted the mission to serve his own ends.

Release date: November6. Screenplay by Peter Straughan, based on the book by Jon Ronson. Directed by Grant Heslov.

Interesting that Clooney has starred in three movies set in the Middle East: Three Kings (1999), Syriana (2005), and The Men Who Stare at Goats (2009). Then through his prod co Smokehouse, Clooney has another project there: Escape From Tehran (2012). Its plot per IMDBpro.com:

During the 1979 hostage crisis in Tehran, a CIA operative and a Hollywood makeup artist create a fake movie project as an attempt to smuggle a handful of Americans-in-hiding out of Iran.

I’d be hard pressed to think of another actor who gets involved in more varied and interesting projects than George Clooney.
