Movies You Made: “Perspective” by Amos Posner
From filmmaker Amos Posner:
I have a few shorts online and a fun experimental doc short on the way, but here’s one that’s been in festivals of late (most recently Coney Island, which I can’t possibly recommend enough to other filmmakers.
Here is the movie:
Has played the 2011 Manhattan Film Festival and NewFilmmakers New York. Will play the New York City International Film Festival in August and the DC Shorts festival in September.
Written and Directed by Amos Posner Starring Brooke Bloom and Jason Jurman Produced by April Lamb Director of Photography: Eric Laplante Casting Director: Matthew Maisto Production Designer: Dani Schuhman Costume Designer: Megan Kate Campbell Assistant Director: Theo Cusick Post-Production Supervisor: Dru Korab
It’s a one-shot take with a lot going on in the scene which is always a tricky business. I asked Amos how many takes they did:
We did about ten takes, but probably only made it all the way through four or five. My DP drew a floor plan of the restaurant, and I drew out step by step, color-coded breakdowns of the action like a football coach, which saved a lot of time. Of course, there are always things you can’t prepare for in production, like a public middle school letting out for lunch down the block when you have a clown standing outside. Obviously, we lost a take to screaming.
Ah, the joys of production!
