Movies You Made: “Rise and Fall” (Pete Lee)
From filmmaker Pete Lee:
I’d love to share this independent action film that I’m working on — I say “independent” over “low budget” (which we SO are) just because we are also tapping into the independent aesthetic, and we are really trying to own this weird subgenre of popular geeky throwback action films that have been surfacing in the recent years, with films like Hobo with a Shotgun and Hot Fuzz.
There’s a whole youtube movement of geeky young kids making their own action films. We are slightly older and this is our contribution to the dialogue, with self-educated stunt guys re-creating Hong Kong style physical pyrotechnics.
brief synopsis: career petty criminal Kenny has finally been able to regain the custody of his idiot savant brother, only to accidentally botch a high-stakes heist. When the jumpy and murderous crew kidnaps the brother, Kenny has to rely on what’s left of his brain, brawn, and grit, to not lose his brother for the second (and last) time. Through the course of his hellish evening, Kenny realizes that maybe his brother is the one trying to save him.
Without further ado, this is the trailer:
Starring Johnny Yong Bosch, Eric Jacobus, Nathan Hoskins, and Rebecca Ahn
