Movies You Made: “SAT-com” by Conrad Sylvia and Mal Stares

In this latest round of MYM, we’ve had a little bit of everything: short films, long films, teasers, narrative music videos, student films, trailers to accompany spec scripts. But here’s something we haven’t had: A short film with an educational slant. From filmmaker Conrad Sylvia:

My producing partner and I recently launched a website for a project we have spent years putting together. It might not be the type of thing you were looking to promote but I figured I would give it a shot.

It’s called Sat-Com and it is a free sitcom episode that uses SAT vocabulary words.

Everything on the website is completely free and there are no ads at all. We do not make a dime from this. It was filmed partly as a passion project and partly as a learning experience. The website has a workbook with the script for the episode (which includes bonus SAT words in the action) and quizzes as well as a blog that is updated with SAT studying resources.

We’re trying to get the word out because we feel this is a unique way to get kids to study.
