Pitch Sale: “Home Schooled”

DreamWorks with pre-emptive buy of original comedy pitch “Home Schooled” from screenwriters Mike Arnold and Chris Poole:

“Home Schooled” tells the story of a 30-year-old man who was home schooled and is now heading off to college.

Another man-child comedy methinks. Re Arnold & Poole, this is interesting:

Arnold and Poole, repped by CAA and Principato Young Management, have managed to maintain a perfect record with sales of original ideas during the past two years. The lawyers-turned-scribes write long distance via video-conferencing software Skype every night between Boulder, Colo., (Arnold) and Chattanooga, Tenn. (Poole).
 
They first gained traction off their comedy spec “The Grackle,” which appeared on the unofficial Black List of the year’s “most liked” reads in 2006. New Line picked up that script and hopes to begin shooting early next year with Matthew McConaughey starring.

Fox Atomic purchased their follow-up, “Captain Awesome,” in late 2006. (Arnold and Poole also are writing “The Litigator” for the studio as part of a blind script deal.) A few months ago, the duo sold the original screenplay “Beaujolais” to Fox, which the Farrelly brothers will produce through their Conundrum banner. Danny McBride is attached to star.

So if you (A) live outside of L.A., (B) work as a lawyer, or © have a long-distance writing partner, inspiration that it is possible to work as a screenwriter.
