Pitch sale: “Untitled D. V. DeVincentis Project”

Mandate Pictures picks up untitled comedy pitch from writer D. V. DeVincentis, based on the book “You Are a Miserable Excuse for a Hero”:

The untitled comedy will follow a nice guy thrust into a series of unusual circumstances after a blind date goes awry. Powers’ book was published last year by St. Martin’s Griffin.

“I wanted to drop the most indecisive man on the planet and his idiot friends into a fast-moving action movie and see what happens,” DeVincentis said.

DeVincentis’ writing credits include High Fidelity (2000) and Grosse Pointe Blank (1997), which means (A) he’s co-written two wonderful movies and (B) he’s buds with John Cusack — so that immediately moves DeVincentis into the pantheon of favored writers status.

DeVincentis is repped by UTA.
